Waiting On Wednesday (22)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Title: Infinityglass

Author: Myra McEntire

Publisher: EgmontUSA

Release Date: August 6th 2013

The stakes have risen even higher in this third book in the Hourglass series.

The Hourglass is a secret organization focused on the study of manipulating time, and its members — many of them teenagers -have uncanny abilities to make time work for them in mysterious ways. Inherent in these powers is a responsibility to take great care, because altering one small moment can have devastating consequences for the past, present, and future. But some time travelers are not exactly honorable, and sometimes unsavory deals must be struck to maintain order.

With the Infinityglass (central to understanding and harnessing the time gene) at large, the hunt is on to find it before someone else does.

But the Hourglass has an advantage. Lily, who has the ability to locate anything lost, has determined that the Infinityglass isn’t an object. It’s a person. And the Hourglass must find him or her first. But where do you start searching for the very key to time when every second could be the last

I love all the Hourglass books and I cannot wait for the next installment! Also, I can’t help but wonder whose POV Infinityglass will be in. I’ve been hearing some people say it’ll be Lily’s, but I’m not sure. If it is Lily’s POV, I can’t wait to read from her headstrong, sassy POV.

Title: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea

Author:  April Genevieve Tucholke

Publisher: Dial

Release Date: August 15th 2013

You stop fearing the devil when you’re holding his hand…

Nothing much exciting rolls through Violet White’s sleepy, seaside town…until River West comes along. River rents the guesthouse behind Violet’s crumbling estate, and as eerie, grim things start to happen, Violet begins to wonder about the boy living in her backyard. Is River just a crooked-smiling liar with pretty eyes and a mysterious past? Or could he be something more? Violet’s grandmother always warned her about the Devil, but she never said he could be a dark-haired boy who takes naps in the sun, who likes coffee, who kisses you in a cemetery…who makes you want to kiss back. Violet’s already so knee-deep in love, she can’t see straight. And that’s just how River likes it.

Blending faded decadence and the thrilling dread of gothic horror, April Genevieve Tucholke weaves a dreamy, twisting contemporary romance, as gorgeously told as it is terrifying—a debut to watch

Ohmygoodness! Doesn’t this sound like the perfect gothic horror?!?! I’ve heard amazing things about the writing and I cannot wait to get to know this little town & the huge manor. Plus, I need to know more about River! How evil is he???? And, how does Violet fare with falling for him? Literally one of my most anticipated books for 2013!

Title: Doon

Author: Carey Corp & Lorie Langdon

Publisher: Zondervan

Release Date: August 20th 2013

Veronica doesn’t think she’s going crazy. But why can’t anyone else see the mysterious blond boy who keeps popping up wherever she goes? When her best friend, Mackenna, invites her to spend the summer in Scotland, Veronica jumps at the opportunity to leave her complicated life behind for a few months.

But the Scottish countryside holds other plans.

Not only has the imaginary kilted boy followed her to Alloway, she and Mackenna uncover a strange set of rings and a very unnerving letter from Mackenna’s great aunt—and when the girls test the instructions Aunt Gracie left behind, they find themselves transported to a land that defies explanation. Doon seems like a real-life fairy tale, complete with one prince who has eyes for Mackenna and another who looks suspiciously like the boy from Veronica’s daydreams. But Doon has a dark underbelly as well. The two girls could have everything they’ve longed for…or they could end up breaking an enchantment and find themselves trapped in a world that has become a nightmare.

I’ve been looking for a new, interesting fantasy read and I think Doon is just the one! I cannot wait to read about this mysterious land the 2 girls are transported to and what darkness lies in it. And, what is up with this blonde boy Veronica keeps on seeing???

What books are you waiting on?

Oooh, THREE picks this week! I honestly really liked Hourglass, but I was really disappointed with Timepiece, which made me not want to read Infinityglass. 😦 We’ll see though, based on the upcoming reviews! I’m really excited for BtDatDBS though, it seriously sounds like a perfect gothic books! Doom looks like a really great fantasy book as well. Fabulous picks this week, Amanda! 🙂
