Title: Level 2

Author: Lenore Appelhans

Publisher: Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers

Release Date: January 15th 2013

GOODREADS SUMMARY

In this gripping exploration of a futuristic afterlife, a teen discovers that death is just the beginning.

Since her untimely death the day before her eighteenth birthday, Felicia Ward has been trapped in Level 2, a stark white afterlife located between our world and the next. Along with her fellow drones, Felicia passes the endless hours reliving memories of her time on Earth and mourning what she’s lost—family, friends, and Neil, the boy she loved.

Then a girl in a neighboring chamber is found dead, and nobody but Felicia recalls that she existed in the first place. When Julian—a dangerously charming guy Felicia knew in life—comes to offer Felicia a way out, Felicia learns the truth: If she joins the rebellion to overthrow the Morati, the angel guardians of Level 2, she can be with Neil again.

Suspended between Heaven and Earth, Felicia finds herself at the center of an age-old struggle between good and evil. As memories from her life come back to haunt her, and as the Morati hunt her down, Felicia will discover it’s not just her own redemption at stake… but the salvation of all mankind.

There’s been a lot of hype about Level 2 and I totally agree with it! Plus, I’ve heard great things about it from a friend who totally recommended it. The idea of Level 2 is pretty creative, but I was totally intrigued when it mentioned a rebellion! A rebellion against the angels who guard Level 2!?!! Now, that sounds interesting!

Title: Uses for Boys

Author: Erica Lorraine Scheidt

Publisher: St Martin’s Press

Release Date: January 15th 2013

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Anna remembers a time before boys, when she was little and everything made sense. When she and her mom were a family, just the two of them against the world. But now her mom is gone most of the time, chasing the next marriage, bringing home the next stepfather. Anna is left on her own—until she discovers that she can make boys her family. From Desmond to Joey, Todd to Sam, Anna learns that if you give boys what they want, you can get what you need. But the price is high—the other kids make fun of her; the girls call her a slut. Anna’s new friend, Toy, seems to have found a way around the loneliness, but Toy has her own secrets that even Anna can’t know.

Then comes Sam. When Anna actually meets a boy who is more than just useful, whose family eats dinner together, laughs, and tells stories, the truth about love becomes clear. And she finally learns how it feels to have something to lose—and something to offer. Real, shocking, uplifting, and stunningly lyrical, Uses for Boys is a story of breaking down and growing up.

I really want to read this book. I feel so bad for Anna. Her mom is out looking for a husband, but leaves Anna alone. So, Anna turns to boys… But, in a way where all the girls at her school ar calling her a slut. Then, she meets Sam who she doesn’t just want to use and she realizes the truth of love. This sounds like a really emotional read and I really would like to learn more about Anna.

Title: Nobody

Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Publisher: EgmontUSA

Release Date: January 22nd 2013

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Tamora Pierce meets George R. R. Martin in this smart, political, medieval fantasy-thriller.

There is a new king on the throne of Tildor. Currents of political unrest sweep the country as two warring crime families seek power, angling to exploit the young Crown’s inexperience. At the Academy of Tildor, the training ground for elite soldiers, Cadet Renee de Winter struggles to keep up with her male peers. But when her mentor, a notorious commander recalled from active duty to teach at the Academy, is kidnapped to fight in illegal gladiator games, Renee and her best friend Alec find themselves thrust into a world rife with crime, sorting through a maze of political intrigue, and struggling to resolve what they want, what is legal, and what is right.

Uhh!! Assassin book! I say yes! Plus, the concept of a Nobody is really interesting and unique. They go unnoticed by everyone and Claire hasn’t been noticed until she’s 17. Nix is sent to get rid of her, but he falls for her instead! I wanna know what happens!!!

Title: The Archived

Author: Victoria Schwab

Publisher: Hyperion

Release Date: January 22nd 2013

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Imagine a place where the dead rest on shelves like books.

Each body has a story to tell, a life seen in pictures that only Librarians can read. The dead are called Histories, and the vast realm in which they rest is the Archive.

Da first brought Mackenzie Bishop here four years ago, when she was twelve years old, frightened but determined to prove herself. Now Da is dead, and Mac has grown into what he once was, a ruthless Keeper, tasked with stopping often-violent Histories from waking up and getting out. Because of her job, she lies to the people she loves, and she knows fear for what it is: a useful tool for staying alive.

Being a Keeper isn’t just dangerous-it’s a constant reminder of those Mac has lost. Da’s death was hard enough, but now her little brother is gone too. Mac starts to wonder about the boundary between living and dying, sleeping and waking. In the Archive, the dead must never be disturbed. And yet, someone is deliberately altering Histories, erasing essential chapters. Unless Mac can piece together what remains, the Archive itself might crumble and fall.

In this haunting, richly imagined novel, Victoria Schwab reveals the thin lines between past and present, love and pain, trust and deceit, unbearable loss and hard-won redemption.

The whole concept of this book is insane! The Archive consists of the dead instead of books and Mackenzie is the Keeper since Da died. How crazy is that? Then, they’re Histories that are trying to get out and Mackenzie as the Keeper has to keep them in! What is going on?!?!

What books are you waiting on?

Amanda, you’re not alone when you say you’re waiting on LEVEL 2 and THE ARCHIVED! I think those two books have been hyped up to the MAX during BEA season back in June. I can’t wait for those two to be released! I’m quite excited for USES FOR BOYS as well, but I’ve already heard mixed things about it. Anyway, great picks this week, lady! Happy reading. 🙂

I know! I’ve been hearing nonstop about those two books since summer and I cannot wait to get my hands on them! And, same here! I was so excited for it, but then I started reading mixed reviews… Oh well, I still hope it’s a good read! Thanks girl!
