Waiting On Wednesday (13)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Title: Then You Were Gone

Author: Lauren Strasnick

Publisher: Simon Pulse

Release Date: January 8th 2013

Two years ago, Adrienne’s best friend walked out of her life. One week ago, she left Adrienne a desperate, muffled voicemail. Adrienne never called back.

Now Dakota is missing. She left behind a string of broken hearts, a flurry of rumors, and a suicide note.

Adrienne can’t stop obsessing over what might have happened if she’d answered Dakota’s call. And she’s increasingly convinced that Dakota must still be alive.

Maybe finding and saving Dakota is the only way Adrienne can save herself.

Or maybe it’s too late for them both.

The cover gives off this eerie feeling because you can’t really see the girl’s face except for a little part of it. The little glimpse of her face that I saw led me to imagine that the girl was thinking about something very serious which drew me in. And, OMG! The synopsis is insane! What was Dakota calling about? What happened between Adrienne and Dakota? What could have happened if Adrienne had answered Dakota’s call? What if Dakota is still alive?

Title: Just One Day

Author: Gayle Forman

Publisher: Dutton Juvenile

Release Date: January 8th 2013

When sheltered American good girl Allyson “LuLu” Healey first meets laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Twelfth Night in England, there’s an undeniable spark. After just one day together, that spark bursts into a flame, or so it seems to Allyson, until the following morning, when she wakes up after a whirlwind day in Paris to discover that Willem has left. Over the next year, Allyson embarks on a journey to come to terms with the narrow confines of her life, and through Shakespeare, travel, and a quest for her almost-true-love, to break free of those confines.

Just One Day is the first in a sweepingly romantic duet of novels. Willem’s story—Just One Year—is coming soon!

I loved If I Stay and Where She Went! Gayle Forman is a remarkable author and I would read any of her books!

Title: The Cadet of Tildor

Author:  Alex Lidell

Publisher: Dial

Release Date: January 10th 2013

Tamora Pierce meets George R. R. Martin in this smart, political, medieval fantasy-thriller.

There is a new king on the throne of Tildor. Currents of political unrest sweep the country as two warring crime families seek power, angling to exploit the young Crown’s inexperience. At the Academy of Tildor, the training ground for elite soldiers, Cadet Renee de Winter struggles to keep up with her male peers. But when her mentor, a notorious commander recalled from active duty to teach at the Academy, is kidnapped to fight in illegal gladiator games, Renee and her best friend Alec find themselves thrust into a world rife with crime, sorting through a maze of political intrigue, and struggling to resolve what they want, what is legal, and what is right.

Renee sounds like my kind of heroine! She attends the Academy of Tildor which trains people into elite soldiers. She’s training to be a soldier! How amazing is that?! I can’t wait to learn more!

The final book in the  New York Times bestselling trilogy, perfect for fans of Battlestar Gallactica and Prometheus!

There are giant pterodactyl-like birds, purple flowers with mind-numbing toxins, and mysterious, unexplained ruins that hold more secrets than their stone walls first let on. The biggest secret of all? Godspeed‘s former passengers aren’t alone on this planet. And if they’re going to stay, they’ll have to fight.

Amy and Elder must race to discover who–or what–else is out there if they are to have any hope of saving their struggling colony and building a future together.
