Waiting On Wednesday (9)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Title: Deity

Author:  Jennifer L. Armentrout

Publisher: Spencer Hill Press

Release Date: November 6th 2012

“History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. “

Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.

If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

My thoughts:

AHH!!! I MUST HAVE THIS BOOK NOW!!! Pure left off with a MAJOR cliffhanger and it’s JLA! Enough said. 😀

Title: Black City

Author: Elizabeth Richards

Publisher: G.P. Putnam’s Sons BYR

Release Date: November 13th 2012

A dark and tender post-apocalyptic love story set in the aftermath of a bloody war.

In a city where humans and Darklings are now separated by a high wall and tensions between the two races still simmer after a terrible war, sixteen-year-olds Ash Fisher, a half-blood Darkling, and Natalie Buchanan, a human and the daughter of the Emissary, meet and do the unthinkable—they fall in love. Bonded by a mysterious connection that causes Ash’s long-dormant heart to beat, Ash and Natalie first deny and then struggle to fight their forbidden feelings for each other, knowing if they’re caught, they’ll be executed—but their feelings are too strong.

When Ash and Natalie then find themselves at the center of a deadly conspiracy that threatens to pull the humans and Darklings back into war, they must make hard choices that could result in both their deaths.

My thoughts:

First off, that cover is stunning. Second, it’s dystopian. AMAZING, RIGHT???? Plus, some forbidden love to keep things interesting. The ingredients for a great read!

Title: Reached

Author: Ally Condie

Publisher: Dutton Childrens Books

Release Date: November 13th 2012

Cassia faces the ultimate choices in the long-anticipated conclusion to the “New York Times” bestselling Matched Trilogy
After leaving Society and desperately searching for the Rising–and each other–Cassia and Ky have found what they were looking for, but at the cost of losing each other yet again: Cassia has been assigned to work for the Rising from within Society, while Ky has been stationed outside its borders. But nothing is as predicted, and all too soon the veil lifts and things shift once again.
In this gripping conclusion to the #1 “New York Times” bestselling Matched Trilogy, Cassia will reconcile the difficulties of challenging a life too confining, seeking a freedom she never dreamed possible, and honoring a love she cannot live without.

My thoughts:

It’s finally the last book. I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like the series has been getting better by book. Matched wasn’t my favorite, but Crossed really drew me in. I can’t wait to see what Ally Condie throws at us! (Did anyone else notice the progression of book covers??? Love that!)

My thoughts:

I feel like the cover has this hauntingly beautiful vibe going on. It really captures your attention and keeps you wondering. Plus, the idea of this book is really unique. An underwater utopia known as Elysium, a Surface Dweller, and a Mother who is a monster. And, what is that secret that could possibly destory everyone? Can’t wait to find out!

What books are you waiting on?

Wow that’s a ton of popular books! Renegade I hadn’t heard about until this week. I haven’t read Deity or Reached’s predecessors so I don’t know if I’ll read those. Black City is near the top of my wishlist/TBR piles though! Thanks for sharing, great picks! ^.^ If you would like to check out my Waiting On Wednesday you can do so here. 🙂
