Waiting On Wednesday (8)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

Title: The Shadow Society

Author:  Marie Rutkoski

Publisher: Farrar, Straus and Giroux

Release Date: October 16th 2012

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Darcy Jones doesn’t remember anything before the day she was abandoned as a child outside a Chicago firehouse. She has never really belonged anywhere—but she couldn’t have guessed that she comes from an alternate world where the Great Chicago Fire didn’t happen and deadly creatures called Shades terrorize the human population.

Memories begin to haunt Darcy when a new boy arrives at her high school, and he makes her feel both desire and desired in a way she hadn’t thought possible. But Conn’s interest in her is confusing. It doesn’t line up with the way he first looked at her.

As if she were his enemy.

When Conn betrays Darcy, she realizes that she can’t rely on anything—not herself, not the laws of nature, and certainly not him. Darcy decides to infiltrate the Shadow Society and uncover the Shades’ latest terrorist plot. What she finds out will change her world forever . . .

In this smart, compulsively readable novel, master storyteller Marie Rutkoski has crafted an utterly original world, characters you won’t soon forget, and a tale full of intrigue and suspense.

My thoughts:

When I was looking for some October releases I stumbled upon this book, and man did the synopsis catch my attention! I mean an alternate world where the Great Chicago Fire never occurred that’s filled with terrorizing creatures called Shades. Wow! Talk about attention grabbing!

Title: Break My Heart 1 000 Times

Author: Daniel Waters

Publisher: Hyperion Book CH

Release Date: October 16th 2012

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Living in the aftermath of the Event means that seeing the dead is now a part of life, but Veronica wishes that the ghosts would just move on. Instead, the ghosts aren’t disappearing—they’re gaining power.

When Veronica and her friend, Kirk, decide to investigate why, they stumble upon a more sinister plot than they ever could have imagined. One of Veronica’s high school teachers is crippled by the fact that his dead daughter has never returned as a ghost, and he’s haunted by the possibility that she’s waiting to reappear within a fresh body. Veronica seems like the perfect host. And even if he’s wrong, what’s the harm in creating one more ghost?

From critically acclaimed Generation Dead author Daniel Waters, comes a delectably creepy and suspenseful thriller. Break My Heart 1,000 Times will leave readers with the chills. Or is that a ghost reading over the page?

My thoughts:

That cover!! It’s so extremely eerily gorgeous! Sure it gives me the creeps, but I find it a bit mesmerizing too. Also, the synopsis sounds intriguing. A world where ghosts are a part of our everyday lives makes for an interesting story. Plus, having your high school teacher try to plot against you since he’s obsessed with his daughter coming back to life definitely makes for a read that won’t bore me.

Title: The Innocents

Author: Lili Peloquin

Publisher: Razorbill

Release Date: October 16th 2012

GOODREADS SUMMARY

Nothing ever came between sisters Alice and Charlie.
Friends didn’t.
Boys couldn’t.
Their family falling apart never would.
Until they got to Serenity Point.
“The Innocents” is the first in a new series of young adult novels that weave a saga of nail-biting drama, breathless romance, and gothic mystery.

My thoughts:

This cover gives off this fun, flirty vibe. The first thing that caught my eye was the cover & then I read the summary & I was like “WOAH!” Two inseparable sisters that were like best friends never let anything get between them. So, what’s Serenity Point??? There’s drama to entertain us & a hot romance. Plus, a mystery! YAY!

What books are you waiting on?
