One hour to rewrite the past . . .
For seventeen-year-old Emerson Cole, life is about seeing what isn’t there: swooning Southern Belles; soldiers long forgotten; a haunting jazz trio that vanishes in an instant. Plagued by phantoms since her parents’ death, she just wants the apparitions to stop so she can be normal. She’s tried everything, but the visions keep coming back.
So when her well-meaning brother brings in a consultant from a secretive organization called the Hourglass, Emerson’s willing to try one last cure. But meeting Michael Weaver may not only change her future, it may change her past.
Who is this dark, mysterious, sympathetic guy, barely older than Emerson herself, who seems to believe every crazy word she says? Why does an electric charge seem to run through the room whenever he’s around? And why is he so insistent that he needs her help to prevent a death that never should have happened?
Full of atmosphere, mystery, and romance, Hourglass merges the very best of the paranormal and science-fiction genres in a seductive, remarkable young adult debut.
Rating: AMAZING Read!
HOLY COW!! Why did I not read this book sooner????? Hourglass had gotten so much hype from everyone that I finally decided to give it try, and man was I not disappointed! Seriously, Hourglass was such a great read that I don’t have any earthly idea how I didn’t pick this book up sooner!
OK, the whole time traveling thing is pretty new to me and I liked the unique spin Myra McEntire used. How they weren’t your typical time travelers, but actually had time traveling powers that came with having the time gene. It was all very interesting to read about and I can’t wait to learn more!
I really enjoyed reading from the POV of Emerson. Emerson was a feisty, strong, & courageous girl, despite her parents’ death having such a saddening impact on her. Also, she has such a big, caring heart that it was hard not to like her.
Michael was super sweet and I loved him with Emerson! Gosh, they just had the funniest moments together! And, it was great how they didn’t have this insta-love romance, but it was kind of gradual. Plus, you could see how much he truly cared & loved Emerson!
At first glance, Kaleb, Michael’s friend, was this arrogant, flirtatious guy who seems like a jerk. But, once we got to know him a little better throughout the end, we got to see the more vulnerable side of him. Plus, the guy is just freaking hilarious!
Oh, and there’s this super twist at the end that I was so not expecting! It caught me totally off guard and I was like “NO WAY! THIS DID NOT HAPPEN!” Actually, I’m pretty sure that I was yelling at my book, looking like a total maniac. 😀
Overall, Hourglass was a great read that everybody NEEDS to read!! No joke, I’m late on reading this book, and if you haven’t picked up Hourglass yet, then you NEED to! No hesitation, GO READ HOURGLASS NOW! You definitely won’t regret it if you’re a fan of science fiction, romance, suspense, some mystery, and a bit of time traveling!
