Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2)GOODREADS SUMMARY

In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.

With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move and that one of their own has betrayed them.

Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will; the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?

As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

Cassandra Clare is one of the most AMAZING authors EVER! I love The Mortal Instruments series and I’ve fallen for The Infernal Devices series too. I really enjoy how she gives us different POVs, with Tessa as the main one. It’s so nice to see what’s going on in the guys’ minds every once in a while.

Clockwork Prince was a fast-paced, action-packed read that was full of surprises and tons of mystery! There never was a dull moment while reading it. Something exciting was always occurring throughout the book that made me want more & more. It was so hard to put down Clockwork Prince that I only managed to do it once (only because I had too). And, after I picked it up again, I never put it down until I reached the last page.

Also, I absolutely love Tessa! She’s so fierce and sassy which makes up for a great, entertaining character. I really enjoyed reading about Tessa during Clockwork Prince, and she’s become one of my favorite heroines! She’s brave, witty, self-sacrificing, kind, stubborn, and has a hilarious, snarky attitude! What else could you want in a heroine?

And, the guys! Will = AWESOMENESS!! He is an absolutely spectacular character! We learn so much about him in Clockwork Prince, and it was great to see a more vulnerable & softer side of Will. And, Jem is as kind as always, but he tended to lose his cool a couple times throughout the book. Although both guys are pretty swoon worthy, I have to say I’m all for Will!

Another aspect I just loved about Clockwork Prince and the whole Infernal Devices series is how Cassandra Clare ties this series in with The Mortal Instruments series. Magnus, anyone?? I mean he’s a huge character in The Mortal Instruments series and here we see him again. Plus, Will is the Will Herondale. Anyone remember how Camille tried to trick Alec???? I had a lot of fun reading Clockwork Prince while recognizing bits of information that tied into The Mortal Instruments series!

THE ENDING!!! Wow! That was really uncalled for and it leaves us with such a cliffhanger. Plus, I was left with many more questions than when I had begun the book. For example, what is up with Tessa’s clockwork angel necklace???? I hope we find out in Clockwork Princess!
